Murdoch fails medical

No laughing matter,
Murdoch leaves the medical
Former world champion David Murdoch has failed in his attempt to switch his allegiance to ‘Team curl one out’. The 33 year old underwent an extensive session with the staff at the newly refurbished training facility that boasts both a Snooker and pool table.

Team curl one out spokes person said “It is a great disappointment Dave has failed his medical, there were a few issues which fell out with our team’s policy”. It is believed the support staff put a halt to the medical after the ‘Long stand’ test. “We as professionals drew a close to the medical early due to the fact Dave was unable to meet the criteria on the long stand. We can’t have a member of the team not being able to stand after a long session”.

This leaves team curl one out in limbo as transfer deadline day approaches, although all avenues have not been explored time is running out to secure a top class curler for the season opener.

Murdoch to take medical

Murdoch arrives dressed in a suit
shortly before 7pm
Former world champion David Murdoch has arrived at team curl one out’s training facilities to undergo his medical. Murdoch arrived on site with his agent around 7:00pm suited and booted; he declined to speak to the gathered media before his intense medical began.

A spokes person for the team said “David’s arrival here at our training facilities has made a great impact on the guys, they think the signing is a done deal” There has been a few question marks over Murdoch’s pint to game ratio over the last few seasons and this could prove a real thorn in the side when finalising the deal. The team have already begun there pre season training with a few weekend get together’s. This would mean Murdoch would need to put in a real shift to catch up on all the training the guys and support staff have put in over the closed season. “We’ve already had a couple of marathon sessions in Newcastle and Lockerbie, we don’t think Dave is in any condition to even attempt one of these marathons” said skip Duncan Gracie.

David’s possible move into the team isn’t without controversy, current skip Duncan Gracie is bound to be a little nervous about the team signing Murdoch as the former champ is best known for his exploits throwing last rocks. Both players were asked about the signing but the media were told they were both unavailable for comment.

Team to sign 'Murdoch'

Team curl one out are in talks to sign former world champion David Murdoch to play lead for the team.

A spokes person for the team said, “This is the type of player we want to attract to the team set up, breaking our transfer fee record is a must”.

One potential issue which might stop the move going through before transfer deadline day is the wage structure team curl on out employ, all players are on the same salary regardless of there experience or position within the team. “Team curl one out will not be held to ransom over David’s wage demands” said the spokesman.

After speaking to David’s agent Richard ‘Boobsie’ Woods it was confirmed David will be going through his medical at the teams headquarters within the week.

Team curl one out said “We think the medical will be passed easily by Dave, we understand he has had a few injury worries over the years but he is a true athlete and looks after his conditioning very well. Once personal terms are agreed we feel the move is a formality.”

Talking from his home in Lockerbie David said " obviously I am delighted to sign for the team as negotiations have been ongoing for some time now. The deal just had to be right for me to come out of retirement, I always like to be on the winning side and feel these guys have what it takes." asked about how he felt on further signings Dave was very tight lipped. "The team are yet to sign a Lead and this was another stumbling block for me moving into the team, I have ambition to compete at the top level and a world class lead below me is a must.
